About Us

Abilities is an Incorporated Society, established in 1959 to employ people with disabilities and provide work for them in as near normal conditions as possible. As part of the normalization of working conditions we employ able bodied people alongside the disabled, about 70% of our staff have a disability of some kind.

The Abilities Group has for the last 50 years enriched the lives of people with disabilities through meaningful employment. Many hundreds of disabled individuals and their families benefit from the Abilities Group and having the opportunity to work.

With the employment opportunities offered the disabled feel part of the community, their level of self worth increases dramatically and they broaden their capabilities, all this adds up to an incredibly significant benefits to the person and family.

How we make this a reality
We provide employment by operating as a commercial company providing a range of services, the organisation has currently four divisions:

Abtec PCB Assembly	Full service PCBA manufacturing,specialising in small to medium runs and prototypes.
Abtec Mechatronics	Light electro-mechanical assembly.
Abpac	Contract Packaging: Shrinkwrapping, Sorting, Folding, Labeling, Packing...
Abcycle	Recycling, Contract Environmental Management
Ecycle	Disposal of end of life computers, CRT monitors, TV's and electronic equipment.
Doc Destruction	Safe and reliable destruction of confidential data. Full security destruction and shredding.

Our Premises and Staff
We operate from a 2750 sq.metres premises on Auckland’s North Shore, employing 120 staff with the Society governed by a Board of Directors.
